Lisamarie Bourke is a former student of university where she studied psychology and sociology. It should come as no surprise, then, that Lisa understands the gravity and importance of taking care of one’s mental health. In a busy world, Lisa knows how easily anxiety and unnecessary stress can creep in on one’s life — and this is one of the reasons she is so passionate about exercise.
Lisa, having had a career in modeling and event presenting, has had a busy and at times chaotic life. But one of the constants she has stuck by is the importance of exercise. Sure, exercise may at times seem like another thing someone has to add to their daily schedule, but the immense benefits it has to offer are ones that cannot be understated.
Lisa is an avid gym-goer, and she loves sweating it out through different circuit routines. Passionate about a holistic approach to exercise, Lisa loves engaging in workouts that can hit seemingly every part of the body at once. “A lot of people think of exercise and immediately go to some sort of bodybuilding routine that is seven days a week with an intense focus on each muscle group. But you don’t need to engage in that type of exercise to get healthy and happy – you simply have to incorporate some aerobic and anaerobic exercises into your schedule a few times a week. It’s really about getting your heart rate up and working on muscular and cardiovascular health!”
In addition to the gym, Lisamarie Bourke is a lover of yoga, as well. “Yoga is a really fun change-up to one’s normal workout routine, and it’s a great way to work on flexibility.”
Above all, Lisa is passionate about exercise because of the sense of sanity it can incorporate back into someone’s life. As a former sought after model for brands like Dolce & Gabbana and events like London Fashion Week, Lisa knows the importance of maintaining a schedule that directly contributes to one’s mental health.
Due to her time at university studying sociology, Lisa has sought after activism opportunities and seeks to help people understand the gravity of certain life situations. These life situations include the plight of homelessness in London, the school system and the struggle to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor. Lisamarie Bourke has a heart for social justice and will use this blog to talk through some of these issues that are close to her heart. She believes it is just as important to take care of your community as it is to take care of your body.
